Primary Purpose
Provides intermediate level administration and support of DVISD WAN/LANs and servers. These duties include but are not limited to:installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting various types of network equipment and server platforms,and product testing.


Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED and two years’ work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals; must possess an A+, Apple/Dell, or equivalent certification.

 

Knowledge/Skills
• Knowledge of computer and networking technologies and configurations.
• Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.
• Knowledge of switch and router CLI, and other network equipment.
• Skill in troubleshooting network/server hardware and software.
• Skill in Sniffer (network) and TCP/IP applications (PING, TELNET, TRACEROUTE).
• Skill in recognizing, analyzing, and resolving network problems.
• Skill in troubleshooting network/server hardware and software.
• Skill in handling effectively and efficiently multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Skill in working in collaborative team based environments.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
• Basic understanding of computer virtualization and PCoIP devices.

Instructional Management
The District Technician promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
• Installs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots various network equipment. Troubleshoots networks, systems, and
applications to identify and correct malfunctions or other operational difficulties. Maintains applications and tools used to
monitor the DVISD network.
• Assists in the installation and configuration of Voice over IP (VoIP); monitors VoIP for proper operation and takes corrective
action as required.
• Maintains up-to-date expertise on network/server technology trends, products, and solutions. Evaluates, tests, and
recommends products or solutions impacting network or system functions.
• Provides user support in the use of applicable hardware, software, and utilities as needed.
• Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communication; develops and maintains technical documentation
related to assigned functions and responsibilities.
• Participates in long range planning; attends professional growth activities; performs other duties as assigned.
• Configure and Maintain PCoIP devices.
• Assist with virtual desktop and servers.
• Maintenance and support of district technology to support instruction

• Continually maintain and demonstrate an attitude consistent of the concept and goal of achieving outstanding customer
service levels and customer satisfaction while driving towards Del Valle ISD initiatives
• Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
• Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not
correctable immediately
• Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
• Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies,
regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards

 

Equipment
• Computer, scanner, printers, video equipment, sound systems, projection system, digital equipment, handheld devices,
wireless hubs, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, answering machine, and shredder


Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
• Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends
• Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
• Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer
• Frequent district wide travel and occasional statewide travel
• Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 lbs); occasional heavy lifting (45lbs)
• Frequent exposure to temperature extremes(hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
• Occasional exposure to: biological hazards(communicable diseases, bacteria etc) work outside, work around moving objects
or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
