Description

Primary Purpose:
Assist in the integration, accountability, and maintenance of campus technology hardware and software

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
CompTIA A+ Certification in progress or working toward attaining certification(preferred)
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:
• Knows technology terminology and concepts
• Knows the appropriate use of hardware components, operating systems, software applications, and networking components
• Knows how to perform basic application functions
• Knows how to select, connect, and use a variety of input, output, and storage devices and peripherals
• Knows how to access, manage, and manipulate information from secondary storage devices
• Ability to work with students and teachers effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
Experience:
• One-year experience working with technology or one year in technology related educational program(preferred)

Instructional Management
The technology assistant promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
• Assist teachers and students in the use and integration of a variety of campus technology including but not limited to: computers, printers, mobile devices, digital cameras, document cameras, LCD projectors, student response systems, learning management system, and instructional software
• Work cooperatively with teachers to assist with technology integration in the classroom

 

Organization Improvement
The technology assistant promotes efforts to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following:
• Maintain physical and computerized files on student progress and use of instructional programs
• Maintain physical and computerized files on the inventory of campus software programs

Communication and Community Relations
The technology assistant promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:
• Promote clear communication of technology processes involving technology tools check-out/check-in and setup for instruction
• Promote and assist with clear communication regarding technology support systems
• Provide support to community with information about technology initiatives, goals, and access to campus technology

 

Organization Management
The technology assistant manages administrative, fiscal, and facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:
• Install a variety of computer programs following complex written instructions
• Coordinate with district technicians for maintenance and repair of technology equipment
• Work with district staff to coordinate technology maintenance
Professional Growth and Development
The technology assistant provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:
• Participate in Campus and District Technology staff development, faculty meetings, special events, and training programs to improve job performance

 

Qualities of Effective Technology Assistants
• Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
• Comply with District and Campus policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
• Comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the administration

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None
Equipment:
• Computer, printer, copier, telephone, fax machine, LCD projector. mobile devices, document camera, digital camera, student response systems, learning management systems

 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

• Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends
• Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
• Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer
• Frequent district wide travel and occasional statewide travel
• Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 lbs); occasional heavy lifting (45lbs)
• Frequent exposure to temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
• Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria etc) work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
