Primary Purpose:

Reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains district databases and custom reports

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

2 years of college and 3 years’ experience in a related field. 

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Applications Suite, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, Crystal Reports.
  • Knowledge of basic query types including SQL
  • Knowledge of database design and structure.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of computerized report writing and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of ODBC, TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge student accounting, (grade reporting, scheduling, attendance, discipline and PEIMS).
  • Knowledge of school business and accounting procedures (budget, payroll, personnel, position management, and PEIMS).
  • Skill in working with various forms of equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, calculators, projectors, and printers.
  • Skill in working with computer tools, including but not limited to, email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
  • Skill in maintaining confidential information
  • Skill in communicating effectively with others.

Professionalism

The Educators' Code of Ethics is set forth in Texas Administrative Code to provide rules for standard practices and ethical conduct toward students, professional colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community

  • Rule §247.1 Purpose and Scope; Definitions
  • Rule §247.2 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators
  • Programs, designs, verifies and documents custom reports for district departments;
  • Utilizes, administers and troubleshoots ODBC Connectivity to data sources; determine the most appropriate format for workforce reports, considering printed reports and their distribution, web-based and other electronic communication media.
  • Authors queries to conduct data extracts from multiple database driven applications.
  • Acts as a consultant to district departments to diagnose and resolve complex data management problems and data integrity issues.
  • Supports district users in the use of district Information System (Skyward).

 

  • Assists in the development and execution of appropriate test scripts and other quality assurance measures; assists in the maintenance of a catalogue and library of test scripts, reviewing and updating when appropriate.
  • Assists with the automation of district third party software imports/exports.
  • Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communication; develops and maintains technical documentation related to assigned functions and responsibilities.
  • Participates in long range planning; directs and assigns priorities and personnel to projects; attends growth activities; performs other duties as assigned.

  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of information management and technology
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately
  • Shall comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
  • Shall comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards

 Equipment:

  • Computer, scanner, printers, video equipment, sound systems, projection system, digital equipment, handheld devices, wireless hubs, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, answering machine, and shredder

 Working Conditions:

  • Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends
  • Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
  • Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer
  • Frequent district wide travel and occasional statewide travel
