* Due to COVID-19 risk and regulation orders by Governor Greg Abbott, the hourly rate of pay is being set at a "premium" pay rate. Pay rate is subject to change based on budget funds.*

 

                                          *The Substitute position is on an as-needed basis*

 

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for substituting in roles for child nutrition (cafeteria worker). 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee. 

Food Handler's Certification and/or willingly to obtain in the first 30 days. 

 

Required Experience:

None  

 

Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work well with children and adults

Communication and Community Relations

The substitute promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:  

  • Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the District.
  • Interacts effectively with students, staff, and parents.

Qualities of an Effective Substitute

The substitute exhibits qualities such as the following:  

  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
  • Daily flexibility to changeover to different assignments as dictated by department administration and school needs.  
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform campus principal of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
  • Complies with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Complies with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards.  

Equipment:

  • Equipment varies as applicable to substitute position. 

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors  

  • Maintains emotional control under stress.
  • Works with frequent interruptions.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment.
  • District wide travel.
  • Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
  • Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
