Job Details

TitleStudent Teacher/Observer/Intern Field Placement (Fall 2017)
Posting ID229
Description

DVISD’s Department of Human Resources must approve all request for college/university education field placements.  This includes all Student Teaching, Observations, and Practicum placements.

Student Teaching/Observing/Interning in DVISD
Students are eligible to student teach, complete classroom observations, or intern in DVISD if currently enrolled in a teacher degree program at a college or university or currently seeking certification through an alternative certification program.

Students seeking to be placed on a district campus for student teaching will need to complete this Student Teacher/Observation/Intern Application.  The Department of Human Resources will contact the program coordinator and student by e-mail, after the application has been received and a DPS Background Check has been processed.

Students/program coordinators should not contact the campuses directly for placement.

Human Resources staff will work with the program coordinators from colleges and universities to place student teachers in DVISD schools and obtain final approval from the campus principal for all placements. Students will be placed based on campus/teacher eligibility.  Not all students who apply will be placed in the district.  All Student Teachers/Counselor Interns who have been approved by Human Resources and confirmed by the campus will be required to attend a Student Teacher/Counselor Intern Orientation with Human Resources.

Each Student Teacher/Counselor Intern will receive an official badge identification at this orientation. Student Teachers/Counselor Interns may not report to the campus until a badge is obtained from Human Resources (not the school).

Student observers seeking observation hours only must complete the Student Teacher/Intern/Observer application and may only report to the campus, once cleared by Human Resources.

District orientations are staggered over time to accommodate Student Teachers/Counselor Interns who may have varying start times.  Late fall orientations will be facilitated one-to-one by Human Resources staff.  Call Michelle Barron at 512.386.3060 for more information.
