Primary Purpose:
The Technology Project Manager is responsible for the planning and managing the deployment of technology projects. The position supervises and provides direct district technical support. This position is bond funded; therefore, annual employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Project Management Certification and/or 3 years of project management experience.
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

Five (5) years classroom or related work experience

Knowledge of common project management techniques
Knowledge of project management software

Basic knowledge of end-user technology equipment and IT infrastructure systems
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.
Skill in communicating effectively with others.
Skill in working with various forms of equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, calculators, projectors, and printers.
Skill in working with computer tools, including but not limited to, email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets.
Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
Skill in maintaining confidential information

 

Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years classroom teaching experience.
Minimum of three (3) years project management experience preferred.

Instructional Management
The manager promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
• Create and maintain project plans that identify expectations, deliverables, tasks, milestone dates, status and resource allocation.
• Manage day-to-day operational aspects of multiple, concurrent projects including the facilitation of client/team meetings, communication of status, change control process and problem resolution or escalation.
• Apply appropriate project management techniques to minimize and ensure the success of all projects.
• Develop, maintain and monitor technology asset inventories.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Direct and supervise district technology support.

 

Organizational Management
The manager provides a positive tone for school and community relations activities such as the following:
• Manage preparation of reports and presentations on the status of project plans.
• Serve as district resource person to administrators and employees on project plans.
• Provide weekly updates related to the projects to the Chief Technology Officer.
• Promote collegiality, teamwork, and collaborative decision making among staff.
• Project and foster a positive image to the community.

 

Professional Growth and Development
The manager provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:
• Apply team leadership principals to guide technical teams through all phases of projects.
• Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations of project proposals, status reports and project closure documentation.

 

Qualities of an Effective Technology Project Manager
The manager exhibits the following qualities:
• Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to appropriate person immediately.
• Comply with district and campus policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
• Comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies,
regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards.
• Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and campus policies affecting schools.
• Compile, maintain and file all reports, records, and other required documents.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate all technology management employees (district and campus technicians) directly under your jurisdiction.

 

Equipment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, scanner, printer, copier, fax and other equipment applicable to position.

 

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
• Repetitive hand motions; prolonged sitting and prolonged use of computer.
• Must be able to push, pull, lift and carry at least 20 lbs.
• Occasional prolonged and irregular work hours to include holidays and weekends.
• May require prolonged use of computer, moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
• Frequent district wide travel.
• Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
