Description

Primary Purpose:

Perform general accounting of athletics funds and other campus activity funds.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification               

High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency)

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices

Ability to use calculator (10 key by touch)

Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and word processing

Proficient skills in typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance

Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines

 

Experience:

One (1) year accounting and/or bookkeeping experience

Organization Management

The administrative assistant manages administrative, fiscal, and facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:

  • Maintain complete and systematic records of athletics department transactions according to established procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Maintain inventory of athletic department fixed assets, equipment, and supplies.
  • Prepare monthly and other periodic athletic department financial reports.
  • Assist with athletics department budget preparation.
  • Maintain physical and computerized files and records.
  • Recruit and train district professionals providing service at all district athletic events.
  • Maintain list of eligible substitutes to serve at all district athletic events.
  • Work cooperatively with Business Office staff to ensure proper accounting of campus athletic funds.
  • Prepare and assign all money boxes for all campus athletic events.
  • Process and account for all money generated and distributed in school-sponsored activities, including receipt of cash and preparing and making cash deposits.
  • Maintain inventory of tickets to all campus athletic events.
  • Perform reconciliations of all money boxes for all campus athletic events.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the administration.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information.

Equipment

Computer, printer, copier, telephone, scanner, fax machine, calculator, shredder, and other equipment applicable to the position.

 

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • May work prolonged or irregular hours and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends.
  • Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse.
  • May require prolonged use of computer, prolonged sitting, bending, pushing/pulling, twisting, standing, stooping, and bending.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying.
