To provide students with high quality, appropriate and engaging learning activities and experiences designed to help students attain their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth and to assist the campus staff with continuous improvement through the implementation of the district curriculum and instructional strategies that will directly contribute to increased student achievement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Required Experience:
Three (3) years’ teaching experience
Experience integrating technology into digital learning environments
Experience working with adult learners
Experience training teacher or other adults in the integration of technology for instruction
Experience in the use of internet resources in the instructional process
Possess current and relevant technology skills including word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentations
Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of instructional software applications
Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners
Knowledge of curriculum and technology used in instructional setting
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Instructional Management
The instructional technology specialist promotes improvement of instruction by assisting with activities such as the following:
- Collaborate with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula through a variety of instructional methods.
- In partnership with multiple stakeholders, work toward integrating the use of hardware, software, and Internet resources in support of student learning and assisting teachers in meeting state and national standards for subject-area and technology-learning objectives.
- Create learning resources for teachers, staff, and students, to include Web sites, tutorials, interactive programs and databases that support teachers in integrating technology.
- Understand methods for integrating technology into the curriculum such as project-based and blended learning.
Organization Climate
The instructional technology specialist assists with fostering a positive school or organization morale through activities such as the following:
- Assess and plan improvement of the school, school district, or community engagement.
- Reinforce excellence.
- Promote a positive, caring climate of learning.
- Use effective communication skills, instructional technology techniques, and crucial conversations.
Organization Improvement
The instructional technology specialist promotes leadership in efforts to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following:
- Understand key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.
- Use effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills.
- Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies, and other educational areas.
- Assess technology skill levels of students, teachers, and staff.
- Consult with District Instructional Technology Coordinators on the technology needs, including hardware, software, learning resources and training needs.
Communication and Community Relations
The instructional technology specialist promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:
- Be a positive role model and support the mission of the district.
- Establish and maintain open communication with District and Campus leadership, Instructional Coaches, teachers, and support staff by conducting necessary technology support and coaching, when necessary.
- Communicate and work collaboratively with employees and administrators for the purpose of providing administrative support, enhancing program awareness, and assisting with technology implementation of instructional programs.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
The instructional technology specialist provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:
- Participate in campus and district technology staff development, special events, professional associations, and training programs to improve job performance.
- Attend professional development opportunities related to instructional technology methods and technologies.
- Disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
- Attend meetings and participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Qualities of an Effective Instructional Technology Specialist
The instructional technology specialist exhibits qualities such as the following:
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for teachers and specialists.
- Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, a collaborative leadership style, and high ethical standards.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and campus policies affecting schools.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents.

Equipment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, projections system, digital equipment, handheld devices, wireless hubs, calculator, telephone, printer, copier, shredder, scanner, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Work irregular hours and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, lifting, and carrying (may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment).
- May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing harm to themselves or others.
- Occasional district wide and statewide travel.
- Use computer for prolonged period resulting in repetitive hand motion.
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration.
- Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces.
