Description

Primary Purpose:

The position entails working well with principals, teachers, students, potential instructors, community stakeholders, and vendors to coordinate on campus enrichment and tutoring program services. Incumbent will coordinate program schedules and register participants in out-of-school time enrichment and tutoring programs with campus principal, district enrichment coordinator, or director of data and accountability. Incumbent will be responsible for campus data gathering and reporting responsibilities. Enrichment program specialists will also be responsible in coordinating student and parent events in collaboration with campus parent community liaisons and school administrators.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification               

Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years experience in a related position

CPR Certified or within 90 days of employment

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.  Non-refundable fee approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Organization Climate

The enrichment program specialist fosters positive morale through activities such as the following:  

  • Assesses and plans improvement of the school, school district, or community environment.

Instructional Management

The enrichment program specialist promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:  

  • Reviews afterschool lesson plans with administrators to ensure grade level TEKS alignment.
  • Supports tutoring data management and enrollment.
  • Meets on a regular basis with grade level leaders and administrators to align afterschool programming with District currisculum and teacher lesson plans.
  • Schedules regular consultations with counselor and behavior team teachers to ensure appropriate structured support to students.
  • Assesses student need and provide academic assistance.
  • Attends offered professional development to advance district and campus goals.
  • Identifies enrichment program vacancies and submit recommendations for hire. 

Organization Improvement

The enrichment program specialist promotes efforts to improve the school or organization through activities such as the following:  

  • Meets with principal, or campus designee, on general and instructional guidance for enrichment and tutoring programs.
  • Makes day-to-day operation decisions for campus enrichment and tutoring programs.
  • Presents work and operational plans to campus administrators and enrichment program coordinator on a regular basis.
  • Evaluates progress on objectives and goals with campus principals and enrichment program coordinator.  

Communication and Community Relations

The enrichment program specialist promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:  

  • Meets regularly with school administrators, teachers, district administrators, school staff, participants, outside organizations, parents, and general public to promote enrichment program goals and objectives.
  • Interacts regularly with instructors, principals, and district administrators to facilitate programs and communicate information regarding problems, concerns, events, etc.
  • Promotes district goals, mission, and District Improvement Plan at parent and faculty meetings.
  • Presents program details, goals and progress to all participating administrators and/or staff.  

Personnel Relations/Management

The enrichment program specialist manages personnel effectively through activities such as the following: 

  • Recruits and selects instructors, staff, and vendors for enrichment classes, activities, and events with principal approval.
  • Answers, promptly and positively, to all parent concerns and questions
  • Supports instructors with behavior management and program concerns.  

Organization Management

The enrichment program specialist manages administrative, fiscal, and appropriate facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:  

  • Maintains necessary records for the program in compliance with District, State and Federal policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Plans and schedules classes, activities, tutoring and events at their campus.
  • Assists students, faculty, staff, and the community in planning and coordinating various student activities and functions.
  • Communicates with internal and external organizations and services regarding collaboration and assistance with events.
  • Develops monthly calendar of all planned enrichment and tutoring activities.
  • Participates in the development of marketing strategies to promote campus activities and services for parent and student involvement.
  • Monitors out-of-school time enrichment classes and activities.
  • Performs clerical duties, including preparation of data for record-keeping purposes.
  • Tracks daily attendance, for enrichment and tutoring classes, and review on a weekly basis to take appropriate actions with administrators and parents.
  • Receives, addresses, and responds to correspondence and telephone calls from District employees, outside organizations, parents, and the public regarding programs, problems, etc.
  • Identifies enrichment program vacancies and assist in screening of potential candidates.
  • Monitors on-site enrichment programs and provide status reports to enrichment program coordinator and campus administrators.
  • Programs data management and supervision of enrichment events outside of the regular school day.  

Professional Growth and Development

The enrichment program specialist provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:  

  • Attends all assigned trainings, become an integral and contributing member of the enrichment and tutoring team, and follow all guidelines set forth by district and campus administration.
  • Participates in staff development activities to improve job related skills.

Qualities of Effective Enrichment Program Specialists

The enrichment program specialist exhibits qualities such as the following:  

  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
  • Complies with District policies, as well as state and federal laws, and regulations.
  • Complies with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards.   

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Monitors after school instructors and associated staff. 

Equipment:

  • Personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, fax machine, shredder, scanner and other equipment applicable to the position.
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Incumbent has ability to use a defibrillator.

  • Work irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends --- if needed Saturday tournaments/competitions
  • Work with frequent interruption and maintain emotional control under stress
  • Position may require periods of sitting at computer and standing at copier
  • Some lifting of boxes required
  • Use of vehicle is necessary to run errands and pick up supplies as necessary.
  • This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids.
