Primary Purpose:
Provides leadership and coordination to align and articulate programming in the area of Career and Technology Education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Master’s Degree from an accredited university with a major in assigned subject or closely related field
Valid Texas Teaching certification
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser (or within 90 days of hire)
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.
Required Experience:
Minimum three (3) years’ teaching experience in subject area assigned
Administrative and/or leadership experience
Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Working knowledge of federal and state code governing career and technical education
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Management style compatible with the position
Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of standard for CTE facilities, supplies, and materials
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret data

Instructional Management
The coordinator promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following:
- Aligns CTE programs with certifications, licensures, and industry requirements to the greatest extent possible
- Ensures CTE courses assist students, including special populations, in the development of skills necessary for employment (i.e. interview skills, application skills, etc.)
- Coordinates, researches, and informs the instructional programs in CTE
- Coordinates the review and selection of instructional materials and supplies in CTE program
- Plans, coordinates, communicates, and facilitates the implementation of new instructional programs in CTE
- Assists in the development and allocation of the annual budgets for CTE programs
- Assists teachers in the CTE program
Data Management
The coordinator assists with fostering analytical and collaborative environment activities such as the following:
- Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and other required documents
- Assists district staff in working with student assessment data, workshop, and other district application systems
- Responds promptly to all internal data requests and ad hoc research projects for District and campus administrators
- Uses technology-rich data to collect, organize, and visualize assessment data to determine the extent to which all students at all levels are achieving state and federal standards
Organization Management
The coordinator manages administrative, fiscal, and facilities functions responsibly through activities such as the following:
- Participates in career and technical program development at the campus and District level
- Assists in career/technical and educational planning, including course selection and modification
- Manages federal CTE funding including timely submission of grant applications and reports
- Reviews CTE program offerings to ensure alignment with job opportunities within the area and state
- Ensures processes are in place to provide assistance to students making career choices
- Assists special education and general education personnel in correct placement of students with special needs in CTE classes
- Establishes systematic procedures for identifying accomplishing goals
- Organizes and assigns resources
Communication and Community Relations
The coordinator promotes a positive tone for school or community relations through activities such as the following:
- Consults with parents, staff, and students
- Researches information to develop a CTE Community Advisory Group
- Fosters collaborative educational efforts among members of the total school community
- Seeks support for school programs; and involving himself or herself in community activities that foster rapport between the school district and the larger community
- Identifies and communicates with community employers to form partnerships leading to possible opportunities for enhanced student instruction, student job placement, or other areas of cooperation
- Facilitates communication with the school and between the school and community
Professional Growth and Development
The coordinator provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following:
- Plans, organizes, and conducts staff development
- Participates in staff development activities to improve skills related to job assignment
- Participates in professional organizations and take the initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment
- Participates actively in professional associations
- Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals
- Seeks and uses evaluative information for improvement of performance

The coordinator exhibits qualities such as the following:

Equipment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, printer, scanner, copier, fax and other equipment applicable to the position.

- Works irregular and extended work hours to include holidays and weekends
- May report to various campuses within the district for a full work day
- Occasional statewide travel
- Works with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
- Continual standing, walking, lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, and kneeling
- Limited exposure to hot and cold temperatures
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination vibration. Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces
