Primary Purpose:

The Director will oversee effective implementation of the Bilingual/English as a Second Language Program, develop instructional framework responsive to Del Valle ISD English Language Learners, ensure compliance with state and federal laws, provide instructional leadership, and develop and institute a professional development plan to ensure high standards of instructional service to limited English proficient students.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree from an accredited university with a major in assigned subject or closely related field 

Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certification

Valid Texas Teacher certification with Bilingual/ESL Endorsement 

Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) appraiser (or obtain within 90 days)

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by employee. 

 

Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of Bilingual/ESL curriculum and instruction

Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for LEP students

Knowledge of concepts regarding the nature of language acquisition

Able to communicate fluently in English and Spanish

Strong management, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Bilingual/ESL classroom teacher

A minimum of three (3) years’ administrative and leadership experience
