Primary Purpose

Coordinate public relations between the school district and the greater community under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer. Provide support of the district’s media relations, public relations, marketing and community relations initiatives. Serve as Director of the Del Valle Education Partners, and primary fundraiser for Del Valle ISD. Coordinate district and campus events with campus Parent Community Liaisons.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certification  

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in related field

Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

 

Knowledge/Skills

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Use technology to design and produce district publications

Demonstrate strong skills in writing, editing, and public speaking

Thorough knowledge of media relations and public relations functions

Collaboration skills to work closely with a variety of stakeholders

Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline and detail-oriented environment

Knowledge and Experience in coordinating special events 

Knowledge and experience in Social Media

Ability to proactively identify communication/community relation opportunities and develop supporting programs

 

Experience:

Five (5) years’ of experience in communications-related field(s) such as media relations, public relations, journalism or related field
